Memory Foam Double Mattress

Friday, February 27th, 2009

When choosing  a Memory Foam Double Mattress one of the factors that you need to consider is the users body weight, now some of us are not always happy to discuss our weight but it is important to ensure that the mattress you buy is giving you the correct support. Memory foam mattresses are constructed using two pieces of foam which are bonded together like a sandwich. The upper layer is the visco elastic memory foam itself, the lower layer is not memory foam it is a support layer. If the whole mattress was made from memory foam you would sink in to the foam too far. this is why user weight is important.

Our memory foam mattresses have different combinations of the foam layers to ensure that a heavier person does not sink too far into the mattress. We refer to these three combinations (or types) as 500, 700 or 1000. The 500 model is for people up to 14st in weight, the middle one is the 700 which is for 14 - 18st users and the 1000 is for those over 18st. It is important to understand that this relates to the weight of the heaviest occupant, not the combined weight of both!

A standard memory foam double mattress measures 140cm in width (approximately 4′6) and 190cm in length (approximately 6′6), this is the standard UK size double mattress but do  measure your existing mattress to make sure as there are some double beds supplied in the UK that are longer at 200cm (approximately 6′6), for example a double bed purchased from Ikea will usually have this longer mattress.

Mattress depths on traditional sprung mattresses can vary anywhere from 6 - 15inches in depth but a memory foam does not need to be any deeper than 8 inches (20cm) to provide all the comfort and support that you will need. Any deeper and you would sink too far in to it.

The memory foam double mattress from The Sleep sanctuary is British made and has a total depth of 20cm. It is supplied vacuum packed and rolled to allow easy transport and to be carried upstairs with relative ease. Once in the room simply roll out the memory foam double mattress on to the bed and remove the outer packaging. The mattress will take around 6-12 hours to reform to its full size and be ready for use.

Enjoy the Comfort and Convenience of a Takeaway Mattress

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

A takeaway mattress is the perfect solution for everyone.  Traditional mattresses consist of a framework of springs inside a multi layered outer covering, this means that although they can be perfectly comfortable to sleep on, they are not the easiest things to buy and then transport home, they cant be folded in half and as for getting them up that staircase with the tight turn and the low ceiling bit, you can pretty much forget that. What about through the bedroom window on the end of a rope? Just not practical is it.

However there is an alternative. A memory foam mattress from The Sleep Sanctuary is supplied vacuum packed and tightly rolled up. This means that a single mattress is supplied to you in a box that fits in the boot of most cars, a double is in the same box just slightly longer and a king size is in a box approximately 5 foot  by 15 inches x 15 inches (150 x 38 x 38cm). So not only are they easy to get home but getting them upstairs to the bedroom is much easier too.

This ease of transportation is only part of the story because a memory foam mattress is also much more comfortable to sleep on than a traditional mattress, the foam moulds itself to the contours of your body ensuring that there are no gaps or pressure points. The Comfort and convenience of a takeaway mattress needs to be experienced to be believed.
