Duvets

Your duvet is one of the most important items in your bedding collection but often it is the most neglected, probably because we can't see it - out of sight out of mind. For this reason you could be tempted to buy the cheapest that you can because at the end of the day who is going to see it, but is that really what you want. You need to consider how long it will last, what happens when it needs cleaning, how warm is it and of course how comfortable is it.

The tog rating is an indication of how warm the duvet is going to be, these ratings usually go from 4.5 (summer use) through to 13.5 (winter use).

Budget duvets are not usually designed to be cleaned, if they are washed they will often start to fall apart or become lumpy and uneven, so usually they are replaced when they get dirty. This of course is a false economy you would be better off buying a better quality duvet that can be washed or dry cleaned that will last you a long time with the added benefits of much better comfort.

Comfort is of course vitally important, you want your duvet to drape over your body as you sleep, if they are stiff and dont drape correctly then their will be gaps and pockets of air that act as cold spots. If the duvet is too thin or lumpy, again their will be cold spots that can disturb your sleep. The filling of the duvet needs to stay in place otherwise over a period of time it will naturally move out to the sides leaving a thinner layer on top just where you need the warmth.

Here at The Sleep Sanctuary we have a range of duvets available including specially treated anti allergy duvets, Soft Microfibre duvets, Egyptian Cotton duvets, Fire retardant duvets and Hungarian Goose Down duvets.
