It is fitted to your mattress in the same way as a fitted sheet with stretchy elasticated sides to hold it in place. Your usual bedding is then made up as usual on top of this.
The upper surface is a soft absorbent cotton-rich deep pile terry towelling. This is bonded to a waterproof polyurethane (PU) membrane. It is the combination of these two layers that make this waterproof mattress protector so special.
The upper surface is very soft and very absorbent, it soaks up any moisture and wicks it away from the body to evaporate away quickly. The waterproof membrane on the underside is breathable, which means that you won't get hot and uncomfortable using it. It is soft to the touch, which means that it won't make rustly crinkly noises when you lie on it. This membrane is also dust mite proof.
Dust mites require a food source (skin particles) and moisture to survive. This membrane stops both from passing through to the mattress, dust mites cannot survive without a food source.
This waterproof mattress protector can be machine washed at temperatures up to 90c and can be tumble dried if required.
